A number of my customers have asked me if I can supply computers or laptops for them. With the prices of computer equipment falling over the last couple of years and with so much competition in the market it is hard to supply equipment at competitive prices while still making a bit of money!
Supplying Computer Equipment
However I have begun to stock some items - hard drives, power supply units, USB sticks, etc. and am happy to discuss options for supplying larger items - laptops and computers. I use a local supplier, so can usually get equipment within a day or two.
A Full Supply and Install Service
I am also happy to provide a full supply and install service - discussing your needs, finding the right equipment for you and your budget and setting it up for you, including transferring data and settings from your old computer. Feel free to contact me to discuss your needs.
These are some of the items I usually keep in stock:
- Hard Drives - External Hard Drives - USB storage sticks - Power Supply Units - PSUs - Speakers - USB Mice/Keyboards - Various Cables
Laptop screens are potentially fragile and can break if the laptop is dropped, sat on, used in anger or if an object is left on the keyboard when the lid is closed! I can replace a broken laptop screen with a new LCD display panel to make your laptop usable again.
Symptoms of a Broken Laptop Screen
The main symptom is that the screen lights up but you cannot see what is displayed - usually it is obscured by a shard-like pattern like in the photo on the right. If you have an external monitor you should be able to plug it into the laptop and see that the laptop itself is functioning as normal.
The solution is to replace the laptop's LCD display panel. This involves sourcing a replacement panel and fitting it.
Laptop Screen Replacement Costs
Charges for repairing broken laptop screens start at £45 for labour plus the cost of the replacement LCD screen (from around £35.00). I am happy to quote for screen replacements. Please note that I am usually unable to repair touch screen LCDs, but am happy to check your particular make and model of laptop/netbook and provide a quote if the work is possible.
The labour charge includes identifying the type of LCD panel needed for your laptop, sourcing the panel and then fitting it. The cost of the replacement panel is charged in addition to the fitting fee - this is usually around £40 for most laptops but can be significantly more, depending on screen size, laptop make and model. Once I have the laptop I can check the exact specification of the replacement screen and can give an accurate price. If you need the work carrying out urgently the panel can usually be delivered to me by next working day special delivery at an additional cost.
Once I have the laptop I can check the spec of the LCD panel needed and order it once you are happy with the quoted price. Normally the panel is delivered to me within 2 to 3 working days. If your need is more urgent I can request next day delivery for the panel to speed up the process. I normally fit the panel on the day I receive it and will contact you once the laptop is ready.
LCD Panel Disposal
I will ask you to dispose of the old LCD panel yourself - this can be done at the local recycling centre. If you want me to dispose of it I will need to charge a disposal fee of £5.
